Color As An Important Element In Interior Design Singapore

Everybody responds to color. Everybody associates a particular color with anything—a memory, a feeling, an idea. In short, color is a means of communication.

Color, however, can also be many things. It is, first and foremost, an important element of design. It gives off that finishing touch to anything—merchandise, medium (paint, crayon, markers), format (paper, cloth), all of which collectively work to build spaces. The paint you use for your room; the color of the cloth you drape over your windows; the color of the paper you wrap your books with—everything has color and everything has design. Therefore, everything has meaning.

Interior Design Singapore: Using Color Palettes

Interior design is one of the modern world’s best avenues for showcasing the best of color. Many techniques use color differently—bursts of rich, solid colors; soft lines and shapes of pastel colors; and rugged, rough splatters of dark colors.

All good interior designers will tell you, however, that color needs to be carefully planned and laid out before it can achieve its purpose well. This is where the use of color palettes comes in, specifically, the use of cohesive color combinations that match the mood and overall look that an individual wants to achieve on any space being designed.

Colors have groups, and you don’t need to be an expert to know that reds, yellows, and oranges belong to one group; and so do cyans, ceruleans, navy blues, and sky blues.

For instance, if you’re designing a home office for a visual artist, chances are you’re going to incorporate loud, animated colors with bold designs—black against scarlet, bright yellow, green, blue, purple, according to the client’s taste. For a girl’s room, meanwhile, soft hues such as pink, rose, lemon yellow, or lavender infused with white are commonly used.

Interior Design Singapore: What Color Can Do For Your Space

As an element of design, color creates meaning and therefore lets an owner communicate personality through it. A room done in clean lines of black, gray, and white means a person may be the no-nonsense type; in contrast, a room with exploding colors suggests that a person is animated. Color defines spaces. It lends character and gives mood, and it lets its users or owners claim it as their very own.
