April 26th, 2012

The Top Notch Singapore Renovation Industry

Like in most cosmopolitan countries in the world, home renovation is a huge business in Singapore. But unlike in those countries, renovators in Singapore follow different guidelines and face challenges that are unique to them. Being a small country with very limited space, and a government that prides itself in enforcing its laws, the Singapore Renovation business has bloomed into an industry on its own.

The Unique Flair Of Singapore Renovation Industry

Every country has laws regarding building and the renovation of structures. All countries have their own version of a building code that is, if not followed, can result into poor construction and potential hazards. What’s different in Singapore is the fact that most of the housings are public housing governed by the HDB or the Housing and Development Board.

In Singapore, renovations can only be done by companies who are registered at the HDB. For those who do not know, public housing projects were established to regulate what kind of changes is allowed for these structures. Some of the things that are prohibited are the alteration of the facade of the structure, removing any structural item in the building, and overloading the flat with too much furniture.

Furthermore, companies that do business without HDB permit can face hefty fines and even closure. Because of this, Singapore citizens always check if the renovation company they are hiring have all the necessary permits.

Singapore Renovation Industry: A Flourishing Business

Despite the strict guidelines, the interior renovation industry in Singapore is undoubtedly thriving. This is mainly attributed to the fact that the Singapore economy is flourishing. In fact, more and more people are realising the importance of living in a house that’s both functional and visually appealing. The way things are, it is safe to assume that in a few years time, Singapore homes, no matter how small, will be some the most stylish in the world.
